Frequently Asked Questions

What is AccordNote, in one sentence?

AccordNote is your AI memory — the layer above ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini that catches their answers in one click and brings forgotten ones back to you each day, all on your own Google Drive.

How is this different from ChatGPT Memory / Claude Projects / Gemini Workspace?

Each native AI memory only works inside its own platform. ChatGPT can't see what Claude told you. Claude can't see what Gemini said. Even within one platform your conversations scatter across hundreds of chat threads with no cross-thread search. AccordNote is the memory layer above all of them — one place for what every AI told you.

What happens to my AI memory if AccordNote shuts down?

Nothing. Your saved memory lives in a hidden folder inside your own Google Drive. Each note is a JSON file you can read, export, or migrate to any other tool. Our servers never store your content, so there's nothing for us to lose. Your memory is yours.

Is AccordNote really free?

Yes. The core product (unlimited memories, Chrome extension, Google Drive sync, Resurface Deck, Cmd+K search, web dashboard) is free forever. We plan a Pro tier with daily revival email digest and other premium memory features in the future.

Where is my data stored?

Your saved AI memory lives in two places: your browser's local IndexedDB and a hidden app folder in your personal Google Drive. AccordNote servers never store, read, or process your content. We literally can't.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

If you're signed in with Google, your memory is synced to Drive and restores automatically when you sign back in. If you're not signed in, local-only memory will be lost.

Can I access my memory on multiple devices?

Yes. Sign in with Google on both the Chrome extension and the web app at accordnote.com. Memory syncs through Google Drive — first device syncs everything, subsequent devices fetch only what changed (incremental sync).

What AI platforms does AccordNote work with?

Save buttons inject directly into ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. For any other AI or web page, select text and use Cmd+Shift+S or right-click save. Anything that ends up on your clipboard can become AI memory.

Can I export my memory?

Yes. Export all notes as JSON or Markdown from the dashboard sidebar. You always have full access to your data — and since it lives in your Drive, you can also just copy the appDataFolder contents directly.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. AccordNote currently works as a Chrome extension and web app. The web app at accordnote.com works on mobile browsers for viewing, searching, and recall.

How do I customize the keyboard shortcut?

Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Find AccordNote and set your preferred shortcut for 'Save clipboard to AccordNote.'

How is AccordNote different from Notion, Mem.ai, or Obsidian?

Notion is a workspace for teams. Mem.ai stores your data on their servers and limits free tier. Obsidian is local-first but has no built-in AI memory and no browser extension for AI chat capture. AccordNote does one thing: catch AI memory and bring it back to you. One click inside any major AI captures the answer; the Resurface Deck shows you forgotten ones daily; storage is on your own Drive, not ours.

Why should I trust AccordNote over Readwise or MyMind?

Readwise is for readers. MyMind is for images and bookmarks. Both store on their servers. AccordNote is purpose-built for AI memory, free during beta, and your saved memory never leaves your device and your personal Google Drive. We literally cannot read your data.

Do I need to leave my current note app to use AccordNote?

No. AccordNote isn't a replacement for your workspace. Keep Notion for projects, Obsidian for your vault, Apple Notes for grocery lists. Use AccordNote specifically as your AI memory — the layer that catches what AI told you. It fills the gap between AI chat and your existing tools.
